A quick tip: For all you Orchid Growers out there, we would like to inform you on the proper directions for watering your orchid! An orchid is a tropical plant that grows in rain forests around the world and thrives in humid environments. When watering your orchid, which should be about once a week for most varieties, water thoroughly with WARM water through the top of your orchid pot. Soak it good and let the water fully drain from the bottom. Avoid getting water in the crown of the leaves so crown rot can be prevented and let your orchid dry out through the coarse of the week by not drowning by over watering.
DO NOT PUT ICE CUBES ON YOUR ORCHIDS! Orchids that can be purchased at Lowe’s, Home Depot, or even Wal-mart are falsely educating our public with a bogus lie. Ice cubes will give your orchid a slow death because you are slowly killing their root system which is the source of energy for orchids. Orchids are a lot like people, would you want to take an ice cold shower? Don’t be discouraged though, as a lot of people have fell under this misconception. The supplier to these big box stores has a goal to sell a billion orchids in 10 years. What better way to provide false marketing so you can kill your orchid only to turn around and buy another one. Just keep in mind that orchids are tropical plants and like warm water. And the next time your searching for a beautiful orchid for your home or a friend, search for some proper growing guide information at birdsbotanicals.com!
